Specifics
In Mt. Trebević area there are 99 plant and 14 mushroom species. Of the plant species, three are on the Federation of BiH Red List: Serbian spruce, early purple orchid and scabiosa.
Trebević area is very rich in bird life — 26 bird species have been identified. It is inhabited by various species of large and small mammals. On the red list of endangered species in the Federation of BiH are white-breasted hedgehog, wolf and brown bear, while among the reptiles there is a Balkan cross adder.
Current State
Good access road with clear signposts. Trebević is accessible by way of a cable car as well.
Allowed
Scientific research with previous notification and following approval; maintenance of open areas, meadows in order to prevent overgrowth; use of alternative means of traffic owned by the Manager on all paved roads; marking of the existing hiking, walking and mountain biking trails in the area; destruction of invasive plant and animal species from the area; planting of native tree and plant species conducted exclusively by the Manager; introduction of native animal species; land clearing of bushes and lo2 trees on “Tabačka plain” to protect ecological system of mountainous meadows; access to firefighting and medical services as well as police in case of emergency.
Prohibited
Carrying in or out of plant, animal, cultural-historical or geological heritage from or into the area; the use of open flame except in dedicated and signed areas; to abandon animals; driving all manner of motor vehicles except for police, emergency responders, firefighters and Manager’s official vehicles as well as riding mountain bikes, motorbikes, bicycles with an engine and other vehicles on hiking trails; hunting and fishing, damaging of trees and harassing of wild animals; erecting billboards; construction of new buildings which are not meant to help preserve the area; logging except for sanitary purposes and in those parts where it was planned to construct building that should serve to protect the area; foraging of medical plants, nuts and berries; the use of watercourses and area around springs.
