Večernji list gives out annual awards in Mostar

The Center for Investigative Reporting in Sarajevo (CIN) was presented with a Medijski Pečat (Media Plaque) for excellence in reporting at the Večernjakov Pečat awards ceremony held on Feb. 2 at the Herceg Stjepan Kosača cultural center in Mostar. Other media winners were Federal Television (FTV) news program, Pressing from Radio Television Republika Srpska (RTRS) and OBN’s program Telering. The event was attended by members of the diplomatic community, political figures from Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) and Croatia, and members of the press.

The Večernjakov Pečat is given by the newspaper Večernji List, and recognizes distinguished work in BiH. Awards were given out for achievement in the areas of sports, culture, politics, business and media. High Representative Miroslav Lajčak was named ‘Person of the Year.’ This was the first year the media category was included among the annual awards.

In accepting the award for CIN, Managing Director Leila Bičakčić said, ‘the hardest thing is to be recognized within your own community and that makes this award even more special. We are grateful to Večernji List for recognizing our efforts and this gives us encouragement to continue our work.’
