A judge did not accept a plea bargain yesterday from prosecutors in the case of a police inspector who left the scene of an accident that killed a Prijedor woman.
Basic Court of Zenica Judge Aida Smajiš referred the case of Njegoš Poljaković, an inspector for State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA), to a panel of three judges who will decide on the plea agreement. Prosecutors refused to release details of the plea agreement. The law requires a sentence for this offence of between one and eight years in prison.
Poljaković allegedly caused an accident while passing a line of cars, which killed Amela Zahić, 22, and injured five others. Three of the injured are permanently disabled.
