Unauthorized story released

CIN condemns unauthorized release of story.

An unauthorized, unedited and uncorrected version of a story by The Center for Investigative Reporting appeared Wednesday (Nov 16) in Večernji List.

The story about Mostar’s listing as a World Heritage Site being in danger, appeared under the byline of a newspaper reporter but contains sections and wording taken directly from our story. The reporter for Večernji List has confirmed that he received an unmarked envelope in his office containing an eight-page story about Mostar and used that as the basis for their story.

CIN is deeply concerned about this use of pirated copy. Our journalists carefully check every fact before releasing any stories. In this case, CIN had released a complete version of the Mostar story to Danas for use in its Thursday editions.  The story would have been released to all media after it had appeared in Danas.
