Restaurants cited, closed in new round of inspections

Sanitary inspectors check restaurants and food shops for unsafe and unsanitary conditions

Sanitary inspectors in the Canton of Sarajevo Ministry of Health stepped up activity in the period between May 23 and Sept. 1, inspecting 176 shops that do trade in easy-to-spoil food items.

Those included fast food restaurants, ćevapi and burek stands, cakes shops, cafes and pizzerias.

Their analysis of 370 meat samples, plus additional microbiological testing, resulted in 102 warnings with recommendations, and 83 criminal complaints. In addition, 20 shops were shut temporarily, because inspectors found poor sanitary conditions.
