CIN Finalist in Online Awards

The Center for Investigative Reporting in Bosnia Herzegovina is a finalist in investigative reporting for the 2007 Online Journalism Awards

CIN’s series on food safety was one of five stories chosen worldwide in the category of investigative reporting for a small news outlet.  The award is given by the Online News Association, based at the Annenberg School of Journalism at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles.

“We are honored to be recognized for this prestigious award,” said Svjetlana Celic, deputy managing editor of CIN.  “It proves that even a small country like Bosnia-Herzegovina can produce world class journalism.”

The series revealed that Bosnian authorities have failed to adequately safeguard their citizens from unsafe food.  Since the series ran, hundreds of people have been hospitalized in food safety related incidents.

The winner will be announced at the 8th annual conference of the Online News Association (OJA) to be held October 19 at the Sheraton Centre, Toronto.

The Center for Investigative Journalism (CIN) is also available on mobile devices, and you can download the app from the Google Play and App Store.
