Specifics
The main values of “Tišina” wetland are swamps “Mala Tišina” and “Velika Tišina”, Odmut marsh and Žandrak seasonal stream. This complex represents one of the continental wetlands in the Sava river floodplain which is a significant factor of hydrological stability and flood protection, but also the important habitat for numerous species of plant and animal world, many of those being listed in the annexes of the EU Habitats Directive and the Birds Directive.
Current State
Dirt road has no signposts indicating the direction of the wetland. A sign board denoting the characteristics of the protected area is located near the swamp. In collaboration with Šamac Town Hall, fishermen also take care of the swamp by pumping in water during high summer temperatures to prevent annihilation of fish.
Allowed
Scientific research with Manager’s approval and Institute’s expert opinion; educational work, presentation and popularization of natural and cultural values, demarcation of protected area, preparation and marking of hiking trails, signposts and rest stop areas; basic laying out of infrastructure for touristic and recreational needs without negative effects on the natural values and species’ habitat; the implementation of protection measures in forest husbandry; collection of mushrooms and herbaceous plants; conducting activities with the goal of the habitat’s regeneration and rehabilitation; monitoring of the protected area by collecting, analyzing and integrating data; making an inventory of flora, fauna and other natural resources flora; group and individual visits and recreational activities.
Prohibited
To alter the Area’s designation except for conservation and development purposes; construction of new roads; removal of cover crops; construction of facilities and infrastructure; commercial fishing and hunting of strictly protected species, the use of illegal means for fishing; use of plant protection agents; destruction, plucking or other ways of destroying wild plants, i.e. destruction of its habitat; harassment, abuse, harming or destruction of wild fauna and its habitat; burning of vegetation; tree planting of wet meadows, marshes and grazing land except for rehabilitation of the habitat; cutting of native tree species; to fish in spawning season; fish farming with cages or pens; use of water stocked with fish, its bed and its banks as a road to transport construction material and move machinery.
