Protected area since 2002 when an ordinance was enacted. In 2010 a law was enacted declaring it as a protected reserve.

Specifics

The main feature of the reserve are: Skakavac waterfall; Sušica canyon; Perački creek; Jasikovac creek, Lješnica creek, Miljevački creek; Seinovački creek; Bukovik, “Vranjske stijene” and Stublina springs.

Geological features include red rocks; Perački creek rocks; Skakavac waterfall rocks; the canyon of Baba’s creek, Vranjske rocks, Uževica, Sušica and Volujske rocks. There’s a presence of over 1500 plant species many of which are endemic; there are over 100 Dinarides and 120 Balcanic endemic species, and over 100 rare plants. Animal diversity is protected as well as mediveal graveyards from XIII and XIV century: Perca site; orthodox cemeteries “Potoci” and “Pod Jasikom”.

Current State

A sign board denoting protected area is erected. The access road is in a bad condition.

Allowed

Depending on the protection level, different activities are allowed: maintenance of paths for safe access to the waterfall; maintenance of paths and points for educational observation and study of the area; maintenance of rest stop areas; setting up benches, trash bins, signposts, marks etc.; construction of buildings according to the master plan of the area; reconstruction of water mills; construction of educational paths, marking of hiking paths, marking of hydrology and archeological monuments, historic monuments and sacred sites; highlighting specific features of the ecological system; limited use of motor vehicles for observation service; fire-fighting service; ecological tourism and vehicles holding the Manager’s approval in line with the area’s master plan; conducting agricultural production and farming, sanitary logging.

 

Prohibited

Construction except for the maintenance of the existing buildings within Perački spring intake; construction in the zones of the existing springs and catchment area; motor vehicles, logging except for sanitary logging; spring water collection of hydrological monuments, use of open flame, hunt and fishing; harvesting of medical plants, mushrooms and forest nuts except for homestead owners; farming and agriculture except for traditional farming and agriculture on homesteads, except for the protected zone of Perački spring well; introduction of non-native plant and animal species; any modification of the habitat; the use of non-renewable natural resources such as raw minerals; waste disposal.
