Specifics
The Bijambare area is located on Nišići Plateau. Within the border of the protected landscape are established three protected zones. The first zone encompasses “The Bijambare Caves” and their area of 137 hectares represents the value of the highest order which has to be fully conserved.
This area is characterized by herbal as well as hydrological diversity: Bjelila swallow holes, Brodić brook swallow hole, Banjevac spring, Studenac spring and Junakovac spring.
Current State
Good access road with clear sign boards denoting the protected area. One reaches the cave with mini trains which start from the park’s entrance. Entrance admission fee.
Allowed
Clearing of sick trees with the goal of conserving health of forest associations; mowing, ecological rehabilitation of the existing watercourses; spiritual recreation; improvement of infrastructure’s recreational facilities (trails, benches); traffic with special vehicles upon approval; development of a centralized waste management system; putting up sign boards with informational content; setting up water mills as an expression of traditional way of living; a mountain hut designation of use to be changed in the management building of the protected area; sanitary logging; construction of tourism infrastructure.
Prohibited
Harming of Ambiental values, illegal logging, extraction of raw minerals, extraction of fossil resources;; hunting and fishing, foraging of medicinal and edible plants, nuts, berries and mushrooms; collecting wild flora and fauna species; intentional introduction of invasive species; construction in zones of existing springs and their catchment area; drying of high and low peat bogs; altering of watercourse network; vehicle traffic except for emergency vehicles and vehicles with special approval; use of open flame; waste disposal; work that would change water regimes and all other activities that could bi intercede with precise measures of protection according to the protected zones.
