Specifics
The area of Mt. Konjuh belongs to interior Dinaric mountains. It is rich in many different types of forest. Rare plant species are present there, such as Bosnian lily, Bosnian iris, daffodil, mountain germander, yellow gentian. There are also endangered animal species such as brown bear, otters crayfish etc. The main watercourses in this area are Drinjača and Oskova rivers. A natural lake “Paučko jezero” is also an important feature of the area.
Within the Protected Landscape’s boundaries are springs of Studešnica and Krabašnica which are used as Banovići’s public water supply; “Muška voda” spring; Gluha Bukovica and Starička Rijeka springs are collected as water supply for Kladanj and Brateljević. Along with those already mentioned, many other unresearched springs can be found on the territory of the Protected Landscape. There is also evidence of cultural heritage monuments from various periods many of which have not been registered by the conservation authorities.
Current State
A sign board denoting the protected area’s features is erected. Entrance admission fee.
Allowed
Sanitary or growth logging with the goal of the maintenance and improvement of the forest health; mowing: ecological rehabilitation of the existing watercourses and lakes; recreational activities; improvement of recreational facilities and infrastructure (trails, benches); erecting of sign boards; development of a centralized waste management system, research, use, reconstruction and presentation of cultural and historical heritage; construction of tourism infrastructure which has to fit into the ambience; construction of educational, touristic, sport, cultural and recreational tourism facilities.
Prohibited
All activities which could harm the existing ecological system, logging, uprooting or destruction of trees except for sanitary or growth cutting, extraction of raw minerals, use of fossil resources, hunt and fishing, foraging of medicinal herbs, mushrooms; collecting wild flora and fauna; introduction of invasive species, unaccompanied livestock movement: construction except for facilities intended for management and use by the protection authorities and forest husbandry; any activities which can cause the loss of a large amount and quality of potable water in sources and local water supply systems.
