Around million KM was spent on monthly accommodation allowances for civil servants who work outside of their place of residence. The money was allocated from the state budget and paid out to 3,036 persons in Dec 2011. The amounts ranged between 90 and 400 KM a month. Some civil servants not in a position of seniority claimed allowances against the regulations.
The Audit Office of the Institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) uncovered that the state parliament paid 492,051 KM in monthly attendance fees to the legislators of the both houses. MPs received fees also during the vacations and when the chambers had no sessions.
Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) unveiled four anti-corruption strategies in the past 15 years, but little has been implemented, said Dobrila Govedarica, director of the Open Society Fund in BiH.
