Apart from CIN’s story, the shortlist includes 11 investigative reporting pieces from reporters who have been selected from the four corners of the world: Nigeria, Australia, Argentina, United Kingdom, Guatemala, South Africa, France, India, Cameroon and Mexico.

The finalists will be announced during the awards ceremony in Luzern, Switzerland at the end of January.

The nominees for three other categories have also been announced — for outstanding contribution to peace, for contribution to civil rights and excellence in environmental journalism. Bosnian journalists Albina Sorguč and Emina Dizdarević from BIRN in BiH are shortlisted for stories contributing to peace.

An eight-member jury made up of international journalists and members of international journalism associations has made the selection.

The mission of Fetisov Journalism Awards is to promote universal human values such as honesty, justice, courage and nobility through the example of outstanding journalists from all over the world as their dedicated service and commitment contribute to changing the world for the better.
