CIN Stories Featured on German TV

ZDF talks about BiH football

An investigative project by the Center for Investigative Reporting in Sarajevo (CIN), on the state of Bosnia-Herzegovina football, ‘A Game of Control’ and reporter Dino Jahić, who was the BiH team leader for the series, were featured in a German public TV show aired Sept. 13 and rebroadcast in Sarajevo later.

The television show, produced by ZDF television, looked at the BiH team as it geared up for playoffs leading to the World Cup and how successes of the national team have contrasted with the state of the BiH premier league.

ZDF journalists interviewed Jahić about football in BiH, visited and filmed the CIN offices and used images and excerpts from the investigation, published at the end of 2008. That project outlined corruption, court cases and incidents involving the administration of the association and the images of both the BiH Football Association and the BiH Premier League.

The German newspaper Der Spiegel in February published stories about BiH football also based on and crediting the CIN investigation, which was published in several outlets in BiH.

The CIN investigation was part of a regional effort to look at the problems within the sport by the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project of which CIN was a founding member and for which CIN-associated personnel furnish editorial direction and advice. Those stories were published in various regional media in the region.
